Slurry – Delivered by Rock Solid Concrete

Rock Solid concrete is happy to deliver Slurry CLSM to meet your specifications for your site with on time delivery.

What is Slurry?

Slurry, also known as a controlled low strength material (CLSM), is made using rock, sand, cement, water and sometimes fly ash. Slurry is used primarily as a replacement for compacted backfill in trenches and covering utility lines, filling abandoned pipelines, utility vaults and underground cavities. The advantage of using slurry is that it saves contractors valuable days of schedule. While traditional compacted backfill requires a high level of labor, and several days to achieve compaction, slurry can be filled with less labor and no compaction time is necessary. Rock Solid has different types of Slurry that range from sand to coarse aggregate. We also customize the amount of cement and fly ash used in each mix to meet your specific needs.

Most of the CLSM Slurry has a compressive strength of less than 300 psi. This lower strength is more than comparable with strength of compacted soil backfill. The lower strength CLSM can be readily excavated. Since CLSM Slurry is designed to be fluid and self-leveling, it can be easily placed as backfill in a hole or trench. Slurry can be placed in one lift with minimal labor and no vibration or tamping. Using CLSM reduces trench width and excavation since there is no compaction needed. Soil backfill, even if compacted correctly cannot achieve the uniformity and density of CLSM Surry.

The aggregates, cement and fly ash used in our Surry meets ASTM Standards and are always monitored for the highest quality.

We look forward to supplying our customers with the highest quality with the best service and on time delivery.
